THOSE who ventured down to the Chorlton Irish Club recently will have left well fed after the Manchester Roscommon Association held a traditional Cabbage and Bacon Night.
Once a staple diet in many parts of Ireland, the feast was almost treated as a gourmet dinner on the night with the finest boiled bacon and premium heads of cabbage on offer to the lucky folk that managed to get tickets.
On top of the food, there was also much craic to be had on another top night at one of the Manchester-Irish community’s favourite haunts. Among the guest were James Keegan and Nikita Cassidy, who are both principal dancers in Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance.
