Footballer of the Year joins Mayo Day celebrations in Luton

THIS YEAR'S Mayo Day celebration in Luton, which was sold out well in advance, took place last night at Venue 360 in the Bedfordshire town.

The night was a huge success with Mayo folk and their friends turning up in their hundreds to enjoy one of the biggest Irish nights held in Luton in recent years.

Special guest was Mayo football star Lee Keegan, the GAA/GPA Footballer of the Year for 2016.

Entertainment was provided by the Joe Davitt Band, Whiskey Before Breakfast and the Tiersha school of Irish dancing and MC for the evening was Jim Carway from Diverse FM.

Proceeds from the night will go to the family of the late Robert English, a Kilkenny man who lived in Luton with his young family, who was tragically killed by a construction vehicle while working on the M1 motorway in October 2016.

Further coverage will appear in the print edition of The Irish Post
