Life on the streets photographed by homeless Irish people for one-of-a-kind exhibition

A NEW and unique exhibition features photographs of Ireland taken by the homeless men and women of Dublin city.

In Sight is a project designed to raise funds and awareness about homelessness in Ireland, by capturing it through the eyes of those who experience it.

Over the past year, 45 members of the homeless community living in and around Dublin have been taking photographs that capture life on the streets – from their perspectives.

Participants were each been given cameras and training from award-winning photographer Des Byrne – and then went out to capture street life in and around Dublin.

Now a selection of their work is on display in Powerscourt Centre, Dublin until the 29 May.

The proceeds raised from selling the photographer's prints will go to the Dublin Simon Community.

Organiser Lynsey Browne comments: "What better way to understand a person than seeing what they see and – even for just a moment – feeling what they feel. The photographs from this project and stories behind them, aim to do exactly that – and in a more powerful way than words or statistics could accomplish alone."
