JOHN EGAN returned to Cork last night after his heroics in Luxembourg to train kids at Greenwood FC. Egan who was part of the 3-0 demolition of Luxembourg played the full 90 minutes and has been vital for the national side's turn around in form.
Egan's footballing journey began at Cork City and often returns to the county, when possible.
He set up an academy for children aged five to ten to train on a monday evening from 6pm-7pm, with around 120 kids attending every week.

"I arrived down to the academy and there he was training the under seven's team.
"I had no idea he was coming - training runs from six to seven and he was still there at half-past seven taking pictures and signing autographs for the kids"
Egan - began at Greenwood when he was only seven years old, and then joined Sunderland AFC when he was 16. He's always stayed loyal to Cork has never forgotten his roots.
"John will always pop down to the club whenever he is at home in Cork", Kieran added.
Last week Ireland played in a 0-0 draw with Portugal and Stephen Kenny said the Egan could be playing Champions League
“Defensively we are really strong, three clean sheets in the last three games. In my opinion John Egan could play in the Champions League, I think he should be playing in the Champions League.”
Sheffield United host Coventry City this Saturday and Egan is sure to feature.
