Ireland and Spurs youngster Troy Parrott is heading to Championship side Preston North End on Loan

IRELAND YOUNGSTER Troy Parrott is about to join Championship side Preston North End from Tottenham Hotspur on loan.

The report comes from the outlet LancsLive, and the same article also says that the 'The Lilywhites' have fended off competition from other sides in England's second tier to secure the Dubliner's signature. Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Swansea, and QPR seem to have lost the battle for the youngster.

The move to Preston will be the 20-year-old's fourth loan from Spurs since 2020. The forward has spent time at Millwall, Ipswich Town, and Milton Keynes Dons.

Parrott's last adventure on loan heralded a return of nine goals and six assists in 43 games for MK Dons in League One.

Football London also reported last weekend that Parrott was left out of Tottenham’s trip to face Rangers last Saturday.

Speaking about his squad Antonio Conte said: "You can build in one year a great building, but I think last season we put in a good foundation and now, this summer, we tried to build the first and second floor, but we know that we need a bit of time.

"At the same time, we have ambition, and the players are working very hard because they believe in what we are doing. They feel that we are building something important with the club."

Tottenham seem to feel they have enough attacking depth at the club and with the likes of Son Heung-min, Harry Kane, and new signing Richarlison all vying for a starting spot.

Parrott will now join a club in Preston with a host of Irish talent on their book. These include Alan Browne, Greg Cunningham, Robbie Brady, and Sean Maguire
