Supermac's is coming to London ‘in the next 12 months’

IRELAND’S BIGGEST and best burger chain, Supermac’s, is coming to the UK.

Best known for its Taco chips and world-famous Mighty Mac burger, the popular fast-food restaurant is set to expand overseas in the next 12 months.

The company has already set its sights on Greater London and the England capital’s sizeable Irish contingent who could prove useful in spreading the word of Supermac’s.

Pat McDonagh, the managing director of Supermac's Ireland Ltd outlined the plans to the Irish Independent.

"We are targeting the UK first and especially London and the greater London area, as there is a huge Irish market over there,” he said.

The news comes after Supermac’s celebrated another landmark EU victory over McDonald’s and the use of the ‘Mc’ trademark.

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) ruled McDonald's' use of 'Mc' in its product names can't be exercised at just McDonald's' discretion but must be subjected to a standard proof of use test to the EUIPO.

A subsequent assessment of proof of use conducted on a range of McDonald's' products found they should only use the prefix 'Mc' on chicken nuggets and single sandwiches.

With the decision bringing an end to McDonald’s exclusive use of the term ‘Mc’, Supermac’s is hoping to bring its famous brownie and ice cream desserts and legendary garlic and cheese chips to UK fast-food lovers very soon.
