A Prosecco festival is coming to Cork this May

CORKS WILL be popping all over Cork this month when the city’s all-new Prosecco festival begins.

The first event of its kind to take place in Ireland, for over two weeks Cork will be toasting to the good health of one of the world’s favourite sparkling drinks.

While events are strictly limited to adults only, given Prosecco’s alcohol content, there’s still a wealth of experiences for bubbly-lovers to enjoy.

These range from masterclasses learning how Prosecco is made to cocktail making events.

It goes without saying, of course, that a fair bit of Prosecco “tasting” is on the menu.

The brainchild of Tindal Wine Merchants, the Prosecco festival is set to take place at the Metropole Hotel, Cork International Hotel and Cork Airport Hotel throughout May.

On May 10th, the Metropole Tea Rooms will host “The History of Prosecco – Prosecco Masterclass” with guests invited to indulge in a Prosecco cocktail before moving on to a tasting session featuring four different types of Prosecco from the Perlage organic winery in the Veneto region of Italy.

There’s also “The Festival of Prosecco Supper Club” on May 24th in The Met at The Metropole Hotel where guests will be treated to a bespoke four-course meal accompanied by a selection carefully prepared glasses of the finest Prosecco introduced by winemaker Elena Brugnera from the prestigious Perlage vineyard.

Tickets for these and a variety of additional events can be purchased here.
