One in every 10 pints sold in London is a Guinness

IT’S ONE of Ireland’s finest exports and the enduring popularity of Guinness is showing no signs of abating.

According to Ivan Menezes, Chief Executive Officer of Diageo, demand for the iconic Irish stout is continuing to grow internationally.

This includes in the UK where, according to Mr Menezes, one in every 10 pints sold in London is now a Guinness.

It’s not just in London where demand is on the up, either.

Guinness is enjoying its highest ever market share in the UK, with sales of the Irish stout up in every region of the UK.

More significantly still, the interim results revealed that global sales of Guinness had grown an impressive 1.5% in the half year to the end of December.

That’s a lot of Irish stout and a clear sign that Guinness continues to appeal to drinkers young, old, Irish or otherwise.

There could be even more to come with Mr Menezes predicting that the upcoming Six Nations rugby action could spark another surge in sales.

Guinness currently sponsors the international tournament with the popularity of the sport on the rise in the wake of the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.

Throw in the upcoming St Patrick's Day celebrations and it's fair to say things are looking good for Guinness.
