Nearly half of all Irish people would consider switching to a vegan diet

NEARLY HALF of all Irish people would be open to the idea of ditching meat for a more environmentally-friendly vegan diet.

That’s according to a new survey that suggests more and more people are coming around to the idea of a life without burgers, sausages, bacon et al.

Though only 37% of Irish people polled would consider becoming a full-time vegan, around 70% said they would consider incorporating more vegan options into their diet.

All told, around 49% of people surveyed admitted they were considering a switch to a meat-free diet for ethical and environmental reasons.

The results come as part of a poll of over 200 people conducted by Well Woman Vegan.

These findings come as an increasing number of vegan food options begin to arrive in supermarkets and fast food chains across Ireland and beyond.

Tesco recently followed in the footsteps of Greggs by introducing its very own vegan sausage roll.

Prior to that, McDonald’s unveiled plans for its first vegan chicken nugget.

All of these new food creations come despite research suggesting that vegans take more sick days than their meat-eating colleagues.
