Man arrested after being caught with pint of Guinness in his car's cup-holder by police

A MAN has been arrested in the UK after police caught him with a pint of Guinness behind the wheel.

West Midlands Police detained the 54-year-old after finding several cans of the Irish stout in his vehicle during a traffic stop in the Acocks Green area of Birmingham last weekend.

A pint glass half-filled with Guinness was in his cup-holder and drugs were also found in the car.

Taking to Twitter, Acocks Green Police wrote: "This man is going to have a headache in interview this morning!

"A great spot and arrest last night by the team - arrested for drink drive and possession with intent to supply.

"We also seized his vehicle."

The arrested man has since been released pending further investigation.

It's not the first time a motorist has gotten into hot water after being caught driving with Ireland's favourite beverage.

Back in February, Gardaí in Co. Meath stopped a man with a half-full pint of Guinness in his vehicle's cup-holder and an opened eight-pack of cans on the passenger seat.

The man was arrested and charged with drink-driving, with Garda Sergeant Ronan Farrell saying the incident was one of the most "bizarre" he had encountered in his career.
