Diageo working to ensure Irish pubs are 'ready to offer customers great tasting Guinness' next month

DIAGEO IS pulling out all the stops – or rather the pints – to make sure pubs across Ireland are fully stocked up on Guinness ahead of next month’s grand reopening.

The majority of restaurants and bars are due to resume trading on June 7.

In the meantime, the drinks industry giant has been working day and night to ensure these venues have enough pints of the black stuff to cater to the thousands of thirsty customers likely chomping at the bit to get back out there.

With outdoor services set to resume for groups of up to six people, it’s essential that hospitality venues have the necessary stocks of Irish stout and other beers.

It comes amid concerns in some areas of the UK that the demand for freshly-poured pints may soon outstrip the supply with some expressing concerns that stocks of Heineken and other beers could potentially run out.

Diageo, the company behind brands like Guinness, Smirnoff, Captain Morgan, Bell's is taking no chances ahead of a potentially busy summer for boozers across Ireland.

The sight of kegs and crates being unloaded into pubs and restaurants across the country has become an increasingly common sight in recent days and weeks.

And, according to Diageo, they have been working flat-out to prepare these venues for the likely surge in demand among a public starved of socialising and properly poured pints since before Christmas.

"We are looking forward to hotels and outdoor hospitality reopening in early June and are currently working hard to ensure our licensed premises are fully supplied and ready to offer customers great tasting Guinness," they told the Irish Mirror.

With Ireland gradually easing its way out of lockdown and summer fast approaching, it sounds like the public will soon be looking forward to sunny days spent enjoying a well-earned Guinness or two in one of the many beer gardens sure to pop up in the coming weeks.
