Irish woman's words to Syrian refugee will melt your heart

IF this woman doesn't encapsulate the true spirit of the Irish people, we don't know what does.

You may remember earlier this year, RTE's Prime Time went to the small town of Ballaghaderreen in County Roscommon to speak to locals about the influx of Syrian refugees arriving into the town.

The story of the town became a documentary, called Ireland’s Refugee Hotel: True Lives, followed 21-year-old Ghassan, who fled Syria leaving his parents behind. He’s now staying in the Abbeyfield Hotel with his grandmother, aunt, and nieces.

While there, they spoke to a woman named Mary Gallagher, who touched viewers with her empathetic stance on the newcomers to the area.

Well now she's back, and she's got some words of wisdom for us again.

We could all learn a thing or two from Mary Gallagher of Ballaghaderreen.
