Ennis, Co. Clare has been named Ireland’s friendliest place at the Retail Ireland Excellence Awards.
Know anyone from Ennis? Are they particularly sound? Well, we’re prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt on this one.
The award ceremony which took place last Saturday aims to honor “the significant contribution being made by retailers, city and county councils in driving standards.”
The winner was chosen based on county councils and local enterprise offices nominations.
CEO of Retail Excellence, David Fitzsimons reckons we’re a friendly nation the country over, but points out why Ennis does it that bit better than the rest: “Ireland is renowned the world over for its warm welcome and hospitality to all.”
“This is particularly evident in retail operations throughout every village, town and city in the country and Ennis demonstrates this in abundance. Ennis and Clare County Council can be proud of this achievement and the team at Retail Excellence would like to commend them for their very significant efforts.”
If it was deemed friendly enough for Mohammed Ali to visit in 2009, it's friendly enough for the rest of us.
