In Pictures… Galway Association Golf Society Captain's Day

THE GALWAY Association Golf Society (GAGS) held it's annual Captain's Day last week at Moor Park golf club in Rickmansworth, Herts, where over 80 golfers took to the fairways on a gloriously sunny day. The golfing action was followed by a display of Irish dancing, a prize giving dinner and music and dancing into the night.

The day was sponsored by Pat McDonagh of ASM Metal Recycling Ltd, standing left, pictured with Steve Hull, Dave O'Sullivan, Michael Keary and Brian Mulry. This year's Captain is Roscommon man Joe Egan and the day was sponsored by Pat McDonagh of ASM Metal Recycling Ltd, a past GAGS Captain. The overall winner on the day was Tom Gallagher, guest winner was Paddy McNamara and the ladies section was won by Margi Hanley. There was also a hole-in-one by Andy Robinson on the 3rd hole.

The GAGS set a challenge a few years back to play golf in every county in Ireland, and on their annual tour last September, they finally achieved that goal, ticking counties Monaghan, Tyrone and Armagh off the list.

This year's tour is to Pinehurst, North Carolina in the USA for an 8 day trip from 26th August. There are still a couple of places available and anyone interested should contact the GAGS.
