BEST friends Caela Carr and Ethan Barron have released a special Christmas single dedicated to all the Irish people around the world who are finally making it home this festive season.
The 12-year-olds, who have been friends since they were babies, launched the song today, November 26, under their band name the Wild Atlantic Wains.
Now available for digital download, the song is due to be broadcast on the RTE programme A Kid’s Country Christmas.
Caela and Ethan both feature in the documentary, which is due to air over Christmas, having been selected to appear following zoom auditions held in Station House, Letterkenny in Co. Donegal.
Following selection they went on to record the specially penned song 'We're Coming Home for Christmas', which was written by Caela’s mum Brí Carr, in Newtown Studios in Bundoran, which was filmed by Ronin Productions, Belfast, as part of the upcoming documentary.
Ms Carr told the Irish Post: “We're Coming Home for Christmas captures the essence of coming home for Christmas for all who are overseas and have been unable to come home until now."
She added: “It’s written about Caela's brother Ben, coming home from Nashville to celebrate his 21st birthday at home on Christmas Day.”
For Caela and Ethan, who are both in sixth class, in Scoil Mhuire, Ramelton and Drumoghill NS respectively, things are about to get particularly exciting as they await the public feedback to their festive single.
“Ethan has two brothers and a sister who are all waiting expectantly on Santa Claus to bring the Wains a hit for Christmas,” Ms Carr admits.
“The Wains have been besties since the pram, and at 12, are buzzing for the documentary to air and the song to hit the airwaves on local and national radio.”
