You'll fall in love with this Irish band’s heartfelt musical tribute to Christmas in Cork

A NEW song celebrating the magic of Christmas in one of Ireland’s favourite cities, Cork, is capturing the hearts and minds of the nation.

Christmas in Cork from the Russian Roulette Band is a heartfelt ode to one of the Emerald Isle’s most beloved tourist hotspots.

It’s a poignant love letter to the city and one that is supporting an important cause.

All of the proceeds for Christmas in Cork are being donated to Down Syndrome Cork.

Speaking to Lovin.ie Russian Roulette Band guitarist Ivan Holden explained the origins of the song and the reasons behind their charity of choice.

"Paul O'Dea, the singer in the band, wrote the song during the year for an album that was being produced by Tribarac studios in Macroom,” he said.

"Paul’s daughter has Down’s Syndrome and we decided that that should be our chosen charity.”

Eager to spread the festive cheer, the band has already recorded a music video taking in a typical night in Cork over Christmas.

A powerful effort guaranteed to get the hairs on the back of your neck standing on end, the video centres on Megan and David, two people with Down Syndrome, as they explore the city and its various illuminations.

Part of an emotive promo for the clip, Holden also confirmed that O’Dea’s daughter makes an appearance at the end of the video.

“We are delighted with how it turned out and it captures the wonderful Christmas atmosphere in the city."

Christmas in Cork from the Russian Roulette Band is available on YouTube, Spotify and iTunes.
