Westlife star to join Irish Mayor's Chelsea charity carol service

Westlife’s Mark Feehily will join Kensington and Chelsea’s first Irish-born Mayor for a special carol service in London tonight.

Councillor Maighread Condon-Simmonds, Mayor of the Royal Borough, will host this evening’s annual charity carol service, which this year is raising money for SANE.

The Castlemartyr, Co. Cork woman will be joined by a host of well-known personalities from 7pm at St Columba’s Church, Pont Street.

Singer Mark will join actress Jane Asher and journalist Sir Simon Jenkins, among others, in giving readings interspersed with carols.

Also among those expected to attend is MP Jacob Rees-Mogg and Sol Campbell.

“More and more lives are affected by mental illness, yet all too often people pass over it,” said the Mayor, who came to Britain as a teenager to train as a nurse.

She added: “SANE, the charity I’ve chosen to support during my mayoral year, works to improve the quality of life for anyone affected by mental illness as well as raise awareness of the condition.”

There will be wine and mince pies in the Lower Hall of St. Columba’s Church after the service.

Tickets are £20 and all proceeds will go to SANE.
