EASILY ONE of the best parts of Lockdown was the global reaction to the Irish drama series Normal People.
Based on the novel by Irish author Sally Rooney, the TV adaption was produced by the BBC and showcased some of the best parts of Ireland-- including spectacular scenery and the national sport.
The show quickly became a global phenomenon, with major celebrities including Dua Lipa and Kim Kardashian posting about their love of the show to social media, and relative newcomers Daisy Edgar Jones (Marianne) and Ireland's own Paul Mescal (Connell) became superstars overnight.
This newfound stardom is well deserved, as anyone who has seen the incredible series will tell you--but a brand new video showing the pairs' audition tapes together proves they were perfect for the roles all along.
In a video released to British Vogue, Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar Jones can be seen in a casting session before they were ever confirmed for the roles, all the way back in March 2019.
The audition takes place in a small room while sirens of emergency service vehicles can be heard passing outside-- a far cry from the eventual atmospheric, breathtaking final cut.
But the chemistry between the two actors is evident from the get-go.
Check out the video from British Vogue below-- but don't blame us when it makes you want to watch the entire series again from the start.
