Viral clip of Irish woman and her dog hit by a wave appears in opening of Norwegian show

A VIRAL moment of an Irish woman and her dog being hit by a wave in Ireland has appeared in the opening credits of a Norwegian show.

Eagle-eyed Reddit user HelpMeMortyAndSummer spotted the clip in the opening credits to Norwegian series, Okkupert.

The political thriller series centres around the fictional near future in which Russia, with support from the EU, occupies Norway to restore its oil and gas production, prompted by a Europe-wide energy crisis caused by Norway's Green Party coming to power and stopping the country's oil and gas production.

In the midst of the fictional occupation, a woman and her dog from Tramore Co Waterford have appeared in the opening credits which depict a hurricane hitting Norway.

The original footage was caught in 2014 by Swell Seekers in Waterford as the pair got swept up by a large wave in a storm surge on Tramore beach.

At the time, the clip went viral with over one million views.
