WHEN all eyes descend on Sochi this afternoon for the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics, attention will also be drawn to Russia’s controversial “gay propaganda” law.
Russian president Vladimir Putin has angered gay rights supporters worldwide with the law, which makes it illegal for anyone to support the LGBT community in public.
Villager’s frontman Conor O’Brien has written a song in response to those being oppressed, Occupy Your Mind, which he says is "written for you, your mother, your father and your gay brothers and sisters in Russia."
This is the most recent track since O'Brien and his Villagers released the Mercury and Meteor Choice Music Prize nominated album {Awayland}.
Occupy My Mind was produced by James Ford (of Simian Mobile Disco fame) and the video is directed by Alden Volney.
