Michael Collins didn't die for this.
Taylor Swift took to Instagram this afternoon to express her excitement at coming back to the UK, especially London, Manchester and, erm ... Dublin.
Tut-tut.
The US singer wrote: "I missed you UK! We’ll be back to see you SO soon on the Reputation Stadium Tour at Etihad Stadium in Manchester (June 8 and 9), Croke Park in Dublin (June 15 and 16), and Wembley Stadium in London (June 22 and 23)!"
Looking forward to seeing you in Dublin too @taylorswift13 but it’s NOT part of the UK #seeyouinjune pic.twitter.com/XDd5LsXjWU

The post prompted a swift *ahem* reaction online from the famously forgiving users of social media.
One wrote: "Looking forward to seeing you in Dublin too @taylorswift13 but it’s NOT part of the UK".
Another said: "Can someone please educate @taylorswift13 & her PR team - Ireland/Dublin are NOT in the UK."
While an angry egg with zero followers added: "Dublin, Ireland is NOT in the UK. Irish people are NOT British you dumb vacuous American moron."
Charming.

If Taylor Swift says Dublin is a part of the UK them that means Dublin is a part of the UK and that’s that on that https://t.co/o6XJHaIRj5
