AN IRISH horror film starring Liam Cunningham has walked away with a top European industry award.
Let Us Prey, produced by Irish company Fantastic Films, had its world premiere at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival 2014 and took home the Meliee d’Argent.
The film will now go forward for the Meliee d’Or at Sitges in October.
Let Us Prey is an Irish /Scottish co-production shot mainly in Galway and is the first feature film for director Brian O’Malley.
John O’Donnell from Fantastic Films said: “This is Brian’s first feature but he is one of Ireland’s leading commercial directors and so we knew that Let Us Prey was in very safe hands.”
Funded by Creative Scotland and the Irish Film Board, Brendan McCarthy, also of Fantastic Films, added: “We love the horror genre and it would appear so does the Brussels cinema going public!”
Let us Pray tells the story of Rachel (Pollyanna McIntosh), a rookie cop who is about to begin her first nightshift in a neglected police station in a backwater town. But all hell breaks loose when Six (Liam Cunningham) arrives to wreak havoc.
