A DOUBLE-BILL concert celebrating the best in Irish music and song takes place this weekend.
The Irish Night at Cadogan Hall, organised by Irish Music and Dance in London (IMDL), will feature music by Mike McGoldrick, Dezi Donnelly, Ed Boyd and friends as well as support from The Trad Gathering.
Popular duet Mike McGoldrick (flute/pipes) and Dezi Donnelly (fiddle) embody the Manchester Irish tradition.
Over many years spent performing and exploring the music together, they have developed their own influential style which has won them a global fanbase.
The pair will be joined by guitarist Ed Boyd and other special guests, while IMDL’s youth project The Trad Gathering presents an ensemble of great young London Irish musicians together to perform music from the legendary Donegal fiddler, Danny Meehan.
The event, which takes place at 7pm on Friday, July 2, is the annual fundraiser for IMDL, who promote Irish arts throughout the city.
Due to Covid-19 safety guidelines, IMDL will host their traditional grand draw online in advance of the event. There are 18 prizes in total, including:
Prize 2 - 'In Nearly Every House' book by Gregory Daly/ James Fraher
Prize 3 - £100 John Lewis Voucher
Prize 4 - 5 CDs - Máire Ní Cathasaigh and Chris Newman
