LONDON Celtic Punks — a gig collective and unofficial Celtic supporters club — are hosting a free gig this Saturday, June 6 in London.
The event takes place at the popular Camden music venue the Devonshire Arms on Kentish Town Road.
Regular favourites The Lagan headline the event, which kicks off at 7pm. The band combine folk instruments with contemporary punk rock, drawing influences from the traditional folk music of Ireland.
With roots in the Mourne County, expect a punk rendition of The Star of the County Down, which features on their debut album Where’s Your Messiah Now?
The event, aimed at promoting all forms of Celtic music, also features two acts making their London debuts — Mick O’Toole and Matilda’s Scoundrels.
Five-piece band Mick O’Toole are purveyors of British folk and cider punk with an Irish twist.
Inspired by the likes of The Boys From County Hell, Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly, expect fast and furious accordion-led tunes from their recent debut EP 1665 Pitchfork Rebellion.
Hastings-based folk punk band Matilda’s Scoundrels complete the line-up as they continue to make a name for themselves on the back of their well-received debut EP, Beasts In Disguise.
The event runs until 10.30pm. For more details click here
