AN incident that occurred at London's Oxford Circus led many people to believe it was a shooting or terrorist attack, however it was clarified that was no one was in danger.
The panic that ensued at the time however, was very much real, leading 16 people to be hurt in the chaos of people trying to escape the area.
The surrounding area to Oxford Circus was locked down, as part of normal security procedures, with one person in the lockdown named as comedian and writer Russell Brand.
Locked inside Barclays Bank near Oxford Street, the comedian took to Facebook Live to describe the atmosphere and what was happening to those who were afraid and unaware at home.
Brand recalled bumping into one Irish man, who, despite all the chaos, remained totally calm. The stranger recalled the story: "When I first arrived in the bank there was a guy here who said ‘I grew up in Ireland’ and he didn’t even look up from his laptop while people were running and panicking. ‘I grew up in Ireland, this will be nothing."
Just goes to show, the best people to have around in a time of emergency? Always the Irish!
