A SPECIALLY commissioned concert by the Parish Céilí Band will be streamed to fans across the globe this month.
The group, which was formed at the start of 2019, is named after the Parish Bar in Wembley where many of the original members - a collection of musicians from across London who met on the vibrant session scene - regularly played.
It features Rita and Ciaran Farrell (flute and drum), Órlaith and Brogan McAuliffe (flute and concertina), Jack Boyle (banjo), Colin Mullin (button accordion), Laura Shellum (fiddle), Ben and Teresa Connolly (piano and fiddle) and Elaine Conwell (fiddle).
The band won the All-Britain fleadh in their debut year, defeating the reigning champions who had previously held the title for 13 years, and becoming the first London band to win since the Auld Triangle Céilí Band in 2003.
Since then, The Parish, as they are fondly known, have become popular amongst the set dancing community, playing Céilís across London, including at Irish Music and Dance London’s (IMDL) annual ‘Return to London Town’ Festival.
The concert, which was recorded at Grand Junction in London’s Paddington and is supported by the Greater London Authority, will be released on Friday, April 16, as part of IMDL’s Online Concert Series.
Stream tickets cost £10 and can be purchased here, with the concert remaining available to ticket holders for seven days after release.
