THE family of an autistic man who is unable to form full sentences but sings like an angel are “delighted” to be launching his first CD in Manchester this week.
While 23-year-old Martin Finn suffers severe autism and requires round the clock care, when he launches into song there is little that can stop him perfectly mimicking any tune or ballad that takes his fancy.
His remarkable talent has seen him perform at gigs across his native Manchester - where he lives in Atherton with his dad John, a Co. Clare native, and mum Norma – and has even led to television appearances, since The Irish Post first told his story in March 2014.
Now, little over a year later, the Finn family are realising their dream of releasing a CD of Martin’s songs, which they will launch at the English Martyrs Parish Club in Whalley Range this Friday.
The CD, entitled One in a Million, will be launched on the night, but is also available to purchase on Martin’s website
“Martin has severe autism and is non-verbal but lives for music,” his father John Finn told The Irish Post today.
“So we were delighted he got to go to Donegal in December to record his CD, which we will launch this week.”
He added: “We are very proud of Martin and all that he has achieved.”
Martin’s CD launch kicks off at 8.30pm at the English Martyrs Parish Club on Alexandra Road South on Friday, April 17.
Pat Jordan and Finian's rainbow, Dermot Hegarty and Steven Doyle are among the musical acts due to feature in the line-up. Tickets cost £5 on the door.
