Once the musical extends its run at the West End

HIT musical Once has extended bookings for its West End production until next year.

Over 200,000 new tickets have gone on sale at the Phoenix Theatre in London for the popular adaptation - by Irish playwright Enda Walsh - of the 2006 Oscar-winning film.

Since opening at the Pheonix in April, Once, with a cast led by Declan Bennett and Zrinka Cvitešić, has met with popular acclaim from critics and audiences alike.

The musical  show features live music and a stage bar where audience members can join the cast for the start of the show and during intervals.

The original film score, which starred Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, won an Oscar in 2007 for Best Original Song.

The  story centres around a romance between a Dublin busker and a Czech mother who meet through a shared love of music. The adaption stayed close to the original story.

The booking period for Once the musical has been extended until May 31, 2014.
