O'Carroll wins award for Mrs Brown's Boys at Royal Television Society Awards

MRS BROWN’s Boys star Brendan O'Carroll won the award for Best Comedic Performance at the Royal Television Society Awards in London last night.

O'Carroll was named the winner after facing competition in his category from Rebecca Front for Psychobitches and Ryan Sampson for PLEBS.

Peaky Blinders, which stars Cillian Murphy, beat My Mad Fat Diary and Utopia  to claim the award for Best Drama Series.

Olivia Colman’s performance in Broadchurch won her Best Actress, whilst her male counterpart Idris Elba picked up Best Actor for his work in Luther.

Broadchurch also won the award for Best Drama Serial, with Coronation Street winning the Best Soap and Continuing Drama award.

Other winners included: Game of Thrones (Best International Programme), Educating Yorkshire (Best Documentary Series), The Ashes – 2013 (Best Live Event), Gary Neville - Sky Sports (Sports Presenter, Commentator or Pundit) and Stephen Fry (Best Presenter forStephen Fry: Out There).
