Ó Briain quits You’re Fired and announces 65 date live tour

He hasn’t been fired from BBC2’s You’re Fired, but Dara Ó Briain has quit The Apprentice spin-off show after presenting it for five years.

Ó Briain (42) cites a desire to pursue his own comedy.

Crowd Tickler, his first live show for three years begins this month and runs until June 2015 with 65 nights booked throughout the UK.

"After five years hosting You're Fired, I've decided to pass the chair on to someone else," he explained.

“In that time I've interviewed 84 wannabe apprentices.

"If I interview any more, I'll turn into Claude Littner. Mainly though, I'm back on tour again this year and I'd like to enjoy getting laughs off my own incompetence for a while."

"Best of luck to whoever takes over the chair, you'll have lots of fun with them."

Patrick Holland, executive producer of both The Apprentice and You're Fired, said: "Dara has been an absolutely fantastic host of You're Fired, bringing his hilarious observations, sharp insights and terrific sense of fun to the show.

"It has been a great privilege to work with him and we wish him the very best with his next projects."

A replacement for Ó Briain, who comes from Bray in Co. Wicklow, has not been announced yet.
