IRISH singer Niall Horan has admitted he will quit One Direction – as he struggles to cope after Zayn’s departure last week.
The Mullingar native took to Twitter to tell his 22 million followers the news – with 1D fans worldwide reacting with shock and anger.
It is rumoured that the star is unhappy with his new position in official photographs – where he was previously pictured beside Zayn in most of the band’s pictures.
“Niall feels a bit awkward because there’s now just an empty space between himself and the other boys when they pose for fans,” said a source close to the band.
“He has always posed on the left with an arm around Zayn, but now he feels silly as his arm just hangs there, in mid-air.”
It has been reported that the past week has been particularly difficult for Niall, as he has had to endure two official photoshoots with no arm support – and the noticeable distance between him and the other band members has got to him.
“His isolation since Zayn left made him decide to move back to Mullingar – he’s sick of it, he’s had enough,” the source said.
Zayn’s shock departure shook fans but many believed the band could carry on as a four piece.
However, the remaining members’ future is now in doubt as Niall mulls over his position in the band.
