FORMER One Direction star Niall Horan is recording a performance with the RTE Concert Orchestra for a new tv programme which will air on RTE One this May.
Niall and his band will be joined by 45 members of the RTE Concert orchestra to perform a selection of songs from Niall’s debut solo album ‘Flicker’.
The album reached number one in the US and Ireland following its release late last year and peaked at number 3 in the UK.
It also earned him Best New Artist at the American Music Awards last November.
The show will be hosted by 2FM’s Eoghan McDermott who will speak to Niall about his career and his life.
The recording session will be filmed at RTE Radio’s iconic Studio 1 and will be broadcast next month.
Speaking about the collaboration, Niall said: “I made an album that came from the heart, my heart is in Ireland and I feel that there’s no better way than to go on national television and play those songs with a 45-piece orchestra – and the RTE Concert Orchestra is one of the best in Europe, if not the world.”
Conductor Gavin Murphy said the entire orchestra was “looking forward” to working with the Mullingar man.
“We had a rehearsal on Friday and there was a bit of magic in the air – and hopefully this will give his fans around the world a chance to hear Niall performing his big hits in a brand new way.”
The date of broadcast is yet to be confirmed.
