A STAGE musical based on an autobiography by one of the sisters from Irish girl group The Nolans has been announced.
The news was revealed on eldest sister Anne Nolan’s website, which added that it would be adapted from her 2009 autobiography Anne’s Song.
However instead of featuring hits from the band’s back catalogue, the show will include 23 new songs inspired by the autobiography.
A source told the Mirror that the show would not be a ‘Nolans jukebox musical’.
“It’s an autobiography turned into a musical. Obviously, there is an overlap with the sisters,” said the source.
“There are new songs to reflect Anne’s book.”

The project has progressed to the development stage thanks to producer and director Adam Morley.
Anne co-wrote the script with Paul Wood, while the music and lyrics are by Terry Bradford and Sussie Arvesen.
While the show may not contain any Nolans hits, the songs will be inspired by Anne’s life as a member of one of the biggest bands from the seventies and eighties.
The biography Anne’s Song, which provides the source material for the show, details Anne’s life, including her early years in Dublin, where she lived until the age of 11.
The 2009 book – which has been updated to include sister Bernie’s death from cancer in 2013 – saw Anne allege she had been sexually abused by her father, Tommy, from the age of 11.
Despite the emotive subject matter, Anne’s manager Marc Nixon also revealed the show would also include “great foot-tapping feel good songs and hilariously funny ditties”.
The Mirror adds that Anne’s sisters are not involved with the musical, and have not yet read the script.
