Mary Black embarks on 'Last Call' final tour of Britain

ONE of Ireland’s best known and most successful female artists, Mary Black, is embarking on her last ever tour of Britain.

The 'Last Call' Tour will be Black’s last tour outside Ireland.

The singer made the announcement on her website. Having already visited North America, Germany, Holland and Belgium, the upcoming April and May dates will be Black’s final British concerts.

Over her 25-year career, Black has released 11 studio albums, all of which achieved platinum sales status and spawned countless hits.

She has shared stages, TV shows and recording studios with some of the most revered performers of her time. Her autobiography Down The Crooked Road was released in 2014, accompanied by a soundtrack of 18 songs.

Speaking about the decision to stop touring, Black said: “Music has been so good to me, I’ve loved touring the world for the last 30 years. I have made so many friends and have countless fond memories from different corners of the globe. So to my fans everywhere I’d like to thank you. Le gach dea-ghuí (with every good wish/prayer).”

The tour kicks off Thursday, April 30 at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall and finishes on Sunday, May 17 in Northampton’s Derngate with a string of dates taking in Reading London, Leeds, Glasgow and more in between.
