Man who identifies as a broccoli labelled 'idiot' by Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain

A MAN who dresses and identifies as a broccoli was branded 'an idiot' by Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday morning.

Mr Broccoli was arrested during the Animal Rebellion protests on Sunday, which went viral after it was caught on camera and posted on a number of social media platforms.

He was released without charge, and appeared on ITV's leading breakfast show to explain his actions, motivations and, well, his general eyebrow-raising appearance.

He explained to co-host Susanna Reid that his job is "to just grow" and his aim is to see a transition to a "plant-based food system".

Despite the fact that the broccoli seemed to have fairly reasonable reasons for his 'unique' stance, it was the manner in which he went about spreading his message that rightly irked both Morgan and Reid.

After being asked why he chose to appear so comically despite trying to make a very serious point about veganism, the broccoli decided to resort to more 'attempted humour', rather than offering a coherent defence of his position.

"I hear what you're saying," he told Susanna, "we're in extremely hot about this.

"It's going to go pear-shaped."

Next, the broccoli was challenged on whether he practiced what he preached about the environment as Piers asked if he owned televisions or any other electrical devices.

"No, I'm just a broccoli," he replied.

He gave the same response when both hosts tried to quiz him on his knowledge of the science behind meat-eating and the effectiveness of plant-based diets, and when he took a banana out of his pocket and pretended to use it like a telephone, Piers decided that enough was enough.

"The trouble is Mr Broccoli, had you made a very coherent, powerful, science-based argument, you would have had a real impact," he said.

"You would have a lot of attention through the way you dressed up for your cause, but to come on here and just be an idiot makes us think you’re just an idiot."

Well said Piers.

The self-described 'humble' broccoli had little response.
