Love/Hate wins big at IFTAs

LOVE/HATE was one of the big winners at the 2015 IFTA awards, picking up the honours for Best Drama, Best Script, and Best Lead Actress.

Charlie Murphy won the Best Actress award for her role in the RTÉ series, and she is set to feature in the channel’s upcoming 1916 drama Rebellion.

The winners of the 12th IFTA Awards for Film and Drama were announced at a ceremony at the Mansion House, Dublin, on Sunday, May 24.

Tomm Moore’s animation Song of the Sea won the award for Best Film.

Lenny Abrahamson’s comedy Frank and Terry McMahon’s acclaimed drama Patrick's Day also picked up awards.

Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, who played crime king Nidge, and appeared RTÉ's CJ Haughey drama, Charlie, attended the ceremony alongside many other members of the Love/Hate cast.

"I haven't seen some of them for ages," he said. "It's nice to see Aidan Gillen and a few of the other guys.

"My wife said enjoy it, it's the last Love/Hate for most of us," he added.

Director Jim Sheridan was also honoured with a lifetime achievement award during the ceremony.
