LONDON Irish musician Órlaith McAuliffe will be honoured at this year’s TG4 Gradam Ceoil Awards in Ireland next month.
Órlaith, 23, was brought up in north London to Kerry parents, first playing the tin whistle at the age of nine when her aunt gave her one as a gift.
Also a talented composer, she has gone on to win numerous Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann titles and performs with groups including Crossharbour, CéilíMax, Altan and The London Lasses.

London-born fiddle player Kevin Burke will receive the Musician of the Year award. He is now living state-side in Oregon and has performed with the likes of Christy Moore and The Bothy Band.
A total of seven awards will be given out on the night, with guitarist Arty McGlynn receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award for his 40-year contribution to traditional music in Ireland.
