LIAM Neeson will narrate a new RTÉ/BBC series that will commemorate the centenary of the Easter Rising.
Directed by award-winning documentary maker Pat Collins 1916: The Irish Rebellion will hit global television screens in 2016.
The three-part series will be written by University of Notre Dame’s Professor of Irish Studies, Bríona Nic Dhiarmada.
The University says it "will follow a chronological narrative while presenting the historical, political and cultural events of the uprising and the new and lasting relationships among the United States, Ireland and Britain that it brought about".
A 70-minute film version of the series will also be screened at Irish embassies as part of the Government's outreach programme to the Irish abroad.
