LAURA WHITMORE has confirmed the birth of her first baby, telling fans that she and husband Iain Stirling are “in love” with their new arrival.
The Love Island host posted a picture of her walking with her newborn daughter alongside the caption: "Thanks for all the kind messages at this time.
"We are in love x."
The couple had sparked speculation over the birth after they were photographed walking in London with the young child earlier this week.
Whitmore is believed to have given birth in recent days, having been absent from her usual presenting slot on BBC radio this past Sunday.
The Bray-born presenter has yet to reveal the child’s name or any other details from the birth, with the couple preferring to keep such matters private for the time being.
Whitmore and Stirling began dating in 2017, having met a year earlier.
They got married in Dublin last November, having spent lockdown together and only revealed the news of their nuptials to fans on New Year’s Day.
The Irish broadcaster later revealed in her book, No-one Can Change Your Life Except for You, that she was expecting.
“There’s a new chapter coming in my life in the form of a baby girl currently growing inside me,” she wrote.
“And that scares the s*it out of me. I once swallowed a fly and was freaked out that there was a live bug inside me. A little live human is a whole new level of freaking out.
“But I’m excited. Because there is a lot of good in the world, there is a lot of potential and I want to bring up a child knowing that she has her own story to write.”
She adds: “She will be supported and loved but she is the heroine of her own life, no-one else."
Whitmore previously suffered a miscarriage in 2018 and spoke candidly about the experience during an appearance on The Late Late Show.
“It took me a long time. I didn't talk about it for like a year or so and I also found out from my doctor that one in three women experience a miscarriage,” she said.
“I am sure a lot of miscarriages are not knowing or not telling as well and that really surprised me I didn't know that figure.”
