THE HOTLY anticipated debate that featured on Ryan Tubridy's couches was talked about all through Friday night.
Ryan Tubridy called on both sides with opinions on the 8th amendment, some of the view to repealing it and others wishing to keep it in the constitution.
The 8th amendment currently holds a 14-year jail sentence for any Irish woman wishing to have an abortion or caught trying to deliberately cause one.
The people wishing to see the amendment removed included Dr Peter Boylan, formerly of the national maternity hospital in Holles Street, who spoke of patients he'd treated who had suffered under the 8th amendment.

Other doctors on the show and in the audience spoke of the urgency for abortion to be made accessible in Ireland.
The reality in Ireland 2018 is that 3 women a day take abortion pills alone in their bedrooms and bathrooms, terrified. - Dr Mark Murphy #LateLateShow #together4yes pic.twitter.com/L5XOTJYF0j

There are 2,500 GPs in the country, says Dr Mary Favier. If every one of them provided abortion care they would see 2 people a year. If 100 GPs provided abortion care they would see one a fortnight #LateLateShow pic.twitter.com/jxr5U6pRWh

The appearance of voters spreading awareness of a No vote angered and upset many viewers.
That a woman should not die in pregnancy is the absolute lowest bar to aim for in a modern country. Savita should be alive today with a young family and we should never have heard of her. Her father is right to ask the Irish people to repeal the 8th in her memory #latelateshow

A No vote changes nothing. The people involved in the No campaign have had *decades* to provide these wonderful alternatives that will support women, save women, keep us healthy and safe. Where are they? What are they? #lls #latelate #LateLateShow

The former master of Holles Street Maternity Hospital. Versus a woman who’s really, really religious. #LateLateShow #latelate #repealthe8th

I have a daughter with a serious intellectual disability. The waiting lists for support are ridiculous. So, when I hear people on the No side talking about "extra supports" for women I wonder what planet they are living on? It's just lip service #repealthe8th #LateLateShow

Deep down if they knew they were right they wouldn't resort to lies. #latelateshow #repealthe8th
