KATE Bush has become the first female artist in history to have eight albums in the Official Albums Chart at the same time.
The record follows the singer’s return to the stage last week after 35 years, with both critics and fans hailing the performance a success.
Two of Bush’s albums currently lie in the top 10, sixth-placed The Whole Story and Hounds Of Love at number nine, with a total of eight further albums in the top 40, the Official Charts Company said.
50 Words For Snow follows at number 20, The Kick Inside at number 24, The Sensual World two places below at 26, The Dreaming at 37, Never For Ever is one behind and Lionheart at 40.
A further three of her albums are at numbers 43, 44 and 49.
Bush’s record is only eclipsed by Elvis Presley, who nothced 12 entries in the top 40 following his death in 1977, and The Beatles, who had up 11 simultaneous top 40 entries with their 2009 album reissues.
Bush previously became the first female performer in history to reach number one with a self-written song.
Wuthering Heights went on to top the chart for four weeks in 1978.
