THE newest addition to the Blue Peter presenting team is Irish YouTube sensation Adam Beales.
The 20-year-old, who hails from Derry, joined the programme this month, making him the 40th presenter of the iconic children’s show.
He made his debut alongside existing presenters Lindsey Russell, Richie Driss, Mwaksy Mudenda - and Henry the dog – in his first live studio show, which aired on Thursday, September 3 on CBBC.
Thrown straight into the deep end, Beales’ first challenge for the show saw him let down a cliff face to complete a training exercise with the Buxton Mountain Rescue team.
But he is no stranger to the screen or viewers.
Beales is already a successful YouTuber,
His YouTube channel - where he goes by the moniker Adam B - has nearly three million subscribers who follow him posting life hacks, DIY crafts and pranking his younger brother Callum.
When he isn't making YouTube videos, Beales claims he loves to “spend time with his family eating pizza and watching TV”.
He also enjoys “travelling, meeting new people around the world and pranking people” he explained.
“I'm super excited to become Blue Peter Presenter number 40...It's kind of weird - in a super exciting way - that the show I once watched when I was younger, is now the show I will be presenting along with the talented Lindsey, Richie, Mwaksy and of course, Henry,” he said of his new role.
Blue Peter Editor, Ellen Evans, said: "Adam really impressed us during his auditions, he's a natural in front of the camera but he's also very funny, incredibly warm, brilliant with kids and also perhaps a little bit mischievous which the Blue Peter audience will absolutely love."
