NOMINATED for Best New Play in the Irish Times Theatre Awards in 2012, playwright Deirdre Kinahan’s These Halcyon Days will make its British première in August.
Having débuted last yer in Dublin, the play will be staged at Edinburgh’s Assembly Hall from August 1 until August 25 as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Directed by David Horan, These Halcyon Days is set in a nursing-home and focuses on the unexpected relationship between the main characters.
Anita Reeves, recently nominated for Best Actress in both the Irish Times and Edinburgh Fringe Awards for her role in Little Gem, will play the role of Patricia, whilst Stephen Brennan, plays Sean.
Dublin-based writer Kinahan’s most recent plays Moment and Where’s My Seat were both recently staged at the Bush Theatre were both critical and commercial successes.
Outside of theatre, she is also set to write a feature film with Ian Fitzgibbon (Death of a Superhero) for the Irish Film Board, having also written The Bag on Butterfield Drive for BBC Radio 4, airing later this year.
