Irish popstar Samantha Mumba announces long-awaited comeback

Brexit is a mess, vegetarian wraps are taking over our menus and Ed Sheeran is still on the radio – but it's all going to be fine... because Samantha Mumba is back at long last.

The Dubliner burst onto the scene back in 2000 with her debut album Gotta Tell You when she was just 16 and remains one of the biggest selling Irish acts ever after U2, Enya and The Corrs.

She had been discovered a year earlier aged 15 on RTÉ talent show Let Me Entertain You by Louis Walsh of Boyzone, Westlife and X-Factor fame.

Her debut album was an international success and reached #1 in both the UK and US charts – spawning a number of memorable hits, chief of all this absolute tune:

Nineteen years on – yes, it's been that long – Samantha has confirmed that she is finally set to release a follow-up LP later this year.

Mumba, who turns 36 later this month, has teamed up with UK producer/songwriter MNEK – who's previously worked with Madonna, Zara Larsson, Kylie Minogue and many more.

The pop sensation released a Christmas EP in 2001 and a greatest hits package in 2006, but this year's effort will become just her second official album.

It's not known when in 2019 we can expect to hear the Irishwoman's comeback, but she has penned an impressive new record deal with Warner-Chappell – having left Polydor over a decade ago.

"Timing is everything," Mumba wrote on Instagram today.

"I'm really proud of the songs we've written/recorded so far....I'm a woman on a mission. Can't wait for you to hear them."

We can't wait!
