FIANNA FÁIL politician Trevor Gilligan has made his application to become Ireland's entry for the Eurovision next year.
The South Dublin councillor and musician has released his attempt to become the Irish entry for 2018's Eurovision, entitled "Keep You Warm".
The song, which was released accompanied by a press release has revealed that Trevor "hopes his entry 'Keep You Warm' will match the criteria judges require for the song contest: Gentle Piano, Heavy Bass & Catchy lyrics, but most of all a simple melody."
In the past, Gilligan has recorded and released tracks on his Soundcloud and according to Nialler9, the politician counts his musical influences as musicians such as The Beatles, [Paul] McCartney, Jamiroquai, Pharrell Williams, Timbaland and Michael Jackson.
Considering some of the crazy entries we've had in the past, Gilligan's offering is catchy and it's more than clear that the Dubliner can sing. The song has Ne-Yo vibes and the beat kind of sounds like a John Gibbons tune... Give it a listen below.
Could this be the entry that will finally clinch the Eurovision win that Ireland has needed for so long?
