Irish musicians dominate the Sunday Times Music Millionaires list

IRISH singer Enya is wealthier than chart topping singers like Adele, Ed Sheeran and Kylie Minogue, figures have revealed.

The Sunday Times’ Music Millionaires list puts Enya’s net worth at £91million, despite the notoriously reclusive singer not having a top twenty single in Britain for more than 20 years.

The list looks at the richest musicians in Britain and Ireland.

Enya is one of only three solo females to make the top 50 list this year – joined by British superstar Adele, who is worth £85m, and Aussie singer Kylie Minogue, whose net worth is placed at £55m.

Irish rock band U2 also made an appearance on the list, with Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen worth a combined £500m.

Honorary Irishman Ed Sheeran, whose grandparents hail from Wexford, made his first appearance on the top 50 list, with a fortune of £45m, while pop group One Direction, whose members include Niall Horan from Mullingar, have individual net worths of £33m.

The list has been broken down into various sections – with Adele deemed Britain’s richest solo female, while Enya is Ireland’s.

Enya's healthy bank balance failed to seal her a top 10 spot but Ireland was well represented in the overall richest names in music.

U2 and Lord of the Dance composer Michael Flatley both made appearances on the Music Millionaires list.
