Irish fan lives the dream after being invited on stage to drum with The Killers

AN IRISH fan got the chance to perform in front of tens of thousands of people when he was invited on stage at a Killers gig in Ireland.

Killers fan and drummer Danny Ross chanced his arm by bringing a sign to the gig at Dublin's RDS on Tuesday that read: “Can I play drums?”

The American band’s frontman Brandon Flowers spotted the sign and took Danny up on the offer, bringing him on stage to show off his drumming prowess.

Like something out of a Hollywood movie, drummer Ronnie Vannucci stepped aside to let the Irish fan take his place on the Killers hit, For Reasons Unknown.

As if the unexpected call-up wasn’t nerve-racking enough, Flowers heaped on the pressure by warning Danny: “These people paid a lot of money to come here tonight.”

Fortunately the crowd applauded the Irishman’s performance and even Flowers gave it his seal of approval.

“Danny boy,” he said, “that was wonderful.”

It’s not the first time the band – famous for hits including Mr Brightside and Smile Like You Mean It – have made a fan’s dream come true.

In January, Flowers invited Keyven Dunn from Missouri on stage to drum with the band during a gig at the Chaifetz Arena in St Louis, also on For Reasons Unknown.

Maybe Killers drummer Vannucci just doesn’t like playing the song…
