Hozier leads tributes to late Irish musician Conor Walsh who died suddenly on Friday

TRIBUTES have been paid to the Irish musician and composer Conor Walsh who passed away suddenly on Friday night.

Originally from County Mayo, the musician was thought by those who knew him to have a promising career ahead.

The news of Walsh’s death was officially announced through a family message on his Facebook page, which read in part: “Conor treated each performance the same way he treated each and every individual whom with he shared company. He never failed to conjure the highest emotion from a melody just as he never but drew the brightest light from all who met him”.

Tributes were echoed by Irish star Hozier, who Walsh supported on a sold-out 2013 tour. The musician tweeted on Sunday that Walsh was “far too young and had far too bright a future to go like this”.

The composer had previously performed at events such as Electric Picnic, Body and Soul and Other Voices, the latter of which was televised on RTE.

His first E.P, The Front, was released last October and received promising reviews. Further tributes have been posted on social media in the days since Conor’s tragic death.
