'Homesick' Chris O'Dowd inundated with photos after requesting stunning images of Ireland from fans

CHRIS O’DOWD has received a warm reaction online after requesting pictures of the west coast of Ireland to help alleviate feelings of homesickness.

The IT Crowd actor is believed to be spending lockdown with his wife Dawn O’Porter and their two young sons Arthur and Valentine.

O’Dowd stars in the US TV series Get Shorty, meaning he spends much of his time away from Ireland.

While his current location is unconfirmed, it would appear that the Boyle-born star is pining for home after putting out a request for pictures on Twitter.

“Homesick today,” he wrote.

“Can anyone in the west of Ireland send me big sexy photos of landscapes please.”

Friends, fans and followers were only too happy to oblige with the replies to O’Dowd’s original tweet awash with stunning imagery of Ireland at its best.

Ireland's Minister for the Diaspora & International Development, Ciaran Cannon, led the responses with a breathtaking picture of Sligo.

"Keep safe wherever you are," Cannon wrote alongside it.

There was a beautiful picture of the sky over Inverin.

Sligo councillor Marie Casserly posted a picture of a sunshine soaked Streedagh.

And there was a breathtaking picture of Benbulben.

Ireland's National Tourism Development Authority couldn't decide on one photo so instead provided four.

Fiona Whelan Prine, the Irish-born widow of John Prine, who died from coronavirus, also provided a heartwarming picture.

Musician Niall Breslin provided this stunning photo of Lough Derravaragh.

Photographer Eddie Lee, meanwhile, offered up these stunning shots.

CNN's Donie O'Sullivan posted pictures from Kerry.

While no collection of photos from across Ireland would be complete without the Cliffs of Moher.

Or Connemara for that matter.

These replies were only the tip of the iceberg too, with people from across Ireland and beyond sharing stunning pictures of Ireland at its most idyllic.

Stay safe, stay strong and most of all, stay at home.
