ACTRESS Jessica Chastain has told of the shock she got when visiting Ireland.
The 40-year-old actress has spoken of her pride at her red locks when it comes to movie roles.
While at school as a child, the actress was made fun of because of her fair complexion, freckles and red hair.
The actress was promised that should she visit the fair land of Ireland, she'd see hundreds of people that looked just like her, however upon finally visiting our tiny green country, she found the notion to be wrong.
In promoting her new film Molly's Game, Irish Independentshe spoke to the about her previous experience.
She said her first time in Ireland was an eye-opening experience: "When I went there first... I was expecting to see like a sea of redheads, and there weren't half as many as I'd hoped. I went to Dublin thinking I was going to feel at home, and I was still a minority!"
We can only apologise to Miss Chastain - but do you think the red hair gene is dying out in the Irish population? Or is it just part of a stereotype? Let us know.
